Who can transfer a domain?

SpiritHost accepts transfer requests from domain Registrants or the Authorized Agent of a particular domain Registrant. When requesting a domain transfer, either the domain Registrant or the domain Registrant's Authorized Agent must sign the Transfer Request Form and will be known as the Transfer Contact.

What information is required to transfer a domain and in what format?

A Transfer Request Form must accompany each transfer request.
The domain name must be provided with the correct .com, .net, or .org extension.
The Registrant information provided must match the current Registrant information and is provided as an existing SpiritHost Username. (You can create SpiritHost Usernames at www.SpiritHost.com/domain/my_account.)
The Administrative, Technical, and Billing contacts must be supplied and all must already exist in the SpiritHost Domain Registration System.
Valid credit card information must be provided to pay for the domain transfers and SpiritHost Username setup when applicable.
The domain Registrant or the Registrant's Authorized Agent must sign and date the form and provide ALL requested contact information.

What happens if the domain Registrant tries to transfer a domain but the Administrative contact does not respond or denies authorization?

If this authorization is denied by the Administrative contact, the Transfer Contact will be notified that the transfer will not be initiated unless the Registrant (as identified in the whois database) sends a notarized letter, on company letterhead (if applicable) stating that they wish the transfer to continue with their authorization. When this letter is received and verified, the transfer will be initiated with the Registry.

If the Administrative contact did not respond within 5 business days, the Transfer Contact will be notified that the transfer has not be initiated. The Registrant can then contact the Administrative contact and instruct them to authorize the transfer or send a notarized letter, on company letterhead (if applicable) stating that they wish the transfer to continue with their authorization. When this letter is received and verified, the transfer will be initiated with the Registry.

What happens with Domains Transferred without proper authorization?

If, at any time, a Registrant contacts SpiritHost about a domain that was transferred without authorization, SpiritHost will:

Verify that all policies and procedures were followed.
Advise the Registrant that they must contact the previous Registrar and request a transfer back to the previous Registrar.
SpiritHost will handle refunds on a case by case basis.

What happens if the losing Registrar denies the transfer?

If the transfer is declined by the losing Registrar, SpiritHost will process the request again (no more than 3 requests will be sent for any transfer). If, after 3 attempts, the transfer has not been completed, SpiritHost will contact the Transfer Contact and request that they contact the losing Registrar and make arrangements for the approval of the transfer. After this has been completed, the Transfer Contact must resubmit the transfer form and go through the process again, including the $19.99 payment.

What does it cost to transfer a domain to SpiritHost?

Transfers cost $0 and the additional year added to the end of your domain registration term costs $19.99 if we can submit 3 requests or less and complete the transfer. If the transfer is not completed in 3 requests, an additional $9.99 will be charged per 3 additional requests.
